ABOUT ME
Ella Claire Morgan (she/her)
My name is Ella, and I graduated from Princeton University in 2024, where I studied Neuroscience and Global Health Policy on the Pre-medical track. I’ve been taking photos for over six years and foresee photography as a lifelong pursuit.
My main focus is portraiture. I only photographed my close friends and family when I started taking photos because I could easily capture their personalities, given our preexisting relationships. Learning to use a camera in this setting allowed me to build my photography skills and appreciate the power of authentically capturing my subject(s). I realized that while using the right settings and finding beautiful lighting is important, making people feel comfortable will always outweigh the mechanics. Reproducing the purest laughter and smile isn’t just about clicking the shutter at the right moment; it’s about making a space for those true emotions to exist.
I continue to value my role as a photographer and appreciate that it’s my job. Finding a way to create pixelated treasures for lifelong friends and people I’ve just met is incredibly rewarding and fun.
In my free time, I love singing and playing guitar, ballroom dancing, teaching spin classes, cooking and eating with my family and friends, reading and writing, and spending time outside hiking, swimming, and cycling. I also make YouTube videos sometimes! I live in Marina Del Rey, California, on my Sailboat, named Dove. For the foreseeable future, I'll live in Los Angeles and work in neuroscience research at the University of Southern California.

MY GEAR
camera body
Sony A7iii Mirrorless
lenses
Sigma 35mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8
Sony 50mm f1.8
Sony 24-70mm f2.8
other gear
Peak Design, Godox, and Brevite
The Sony A7iii is a mirrorless camera body, meaning it's a digital camera with no reflex mirror. Rather than having an optical viewfinder that a DSLR would offer, this imaging sensor is displaying an accurate representation of the light through the lens.
The Sigma 35mm and 85mm are an incredible duo. With the 35mm, the images are slightly wider than our eye sees, and with the 85mm, it's slightly narrower. The 24-70mm is my ultimate "everything" lens because of its capacity for quick, significant adjustments. All together with the 50mm lens, I have a kit that captures a range of natural angles.
I use camera straps, mounts, and a tripod from Peak Design, my flash is from Godox, and my camera bag is from Brevitē.
